Valley Mills Farm is a 15-acre modern-farmhouse wedding and event venue in Swoope, Virginia in the Shenandoah Valley near the Middle River, established in 2018 by owner Monica Rutledge (who purchased the historic 1824 mill farm in 2016). The centerpiece is a climate-controlled event barn with chandeliers, lighting and draping that hosts up to 200 guests, with an attached catering prep kitchen and bar. Outdoor ceremony options include the riverside Gazebo Site and the Overlook Deck above the Middle River; a covered patio, fire pit with seating wall, yard games and a herd of seven resident alpacas round out the property. Packages range from $1,400 weekday events and $1,800 elopements (max 10) up to $11,800 Single Day PLUS packages and $5,500–$6,500 weekend wedding packages with Friday set-up and Sunday clean-up. Outside vendors are allowed with single-day event insurance (ABC license required for alcohol). On-site amenities include the Manor Suite and Dressing Cottage for getting ready, in-house DJ (Troy), day-of coordinator (Tina Kincaid), parking attendants, set-up/teardown, and complimentary 2-hour engagement photo use. Owner Monica also bakes custom cakes and cupcakes.
